Fusion #4 set for Autumn

Projects and developments across the UK's biggest county will be featured, from the new outlet mall K Village in Kendal to the Waterfront Business Park and Marina Village in Barrow-in-Furness.
The latest developments in the world-leading Britain's Energy Coast programme will be covered, including the work of the Nuclear Build Group, massive offshore windfarm plans and emerging geothermal and hydro power schemes. read more
Schools plans approved

From: London - Croydon (City3)Croydon's blueprint for school transformation across the borough and plans for a new primary school in Selhurst were approved by the Transforming Croydon Schools Cabinet sub-committee yesterday evening.
Croydon Council's Strategy for Change Document - which outlines how the council intends to use Government funding granted by the Building Schools for the Future (BSF) programme - follows on from the council's formal entry onto the BSF programme in December.

£2 million carbon reduction grant on offer

From: Cumbria (Fusion)SMEs in Cumbria are to benefit from a share of £2 million in grant funding to develop and demonstrate innovative carbon reduction technologies.
The Northwest Regional Development Agency
(NWDA) is offering the grants as part of the Northwest Climate Change Action Plan.
A wide variety of companies will be eligible for the grants including those working in waste treatment and recycling, water pollution, air pollution, land remediation and energy generation and efficiency.

Five shortlisted to submit plans for Derwent Forest

and Broughton Moor, the former Royal Naval Armaments Depot.
The companies' identities remain secret. They were chosen from 12 which originally submitted expressions of interest in developing the 424-hectare site.

Funding for 216 businesses hit by Cumbrian floods

From: Cumbria (Fusion)The Northwest Regional Development Agency (NWDA) has handed out over £1 million to some 216 businesses affected by the floods that devastated areas of Cumbria six months ago.
The Flood Recovery Grant Scheme
was established by the NWDA within a few days of the floods and made available to small and medium businesses within six days.
Local communities themselves have raised almost £2.5 million, a remarkable sum. More than £1.4 million has been distributed to over 700 households and 90 community groups so far. read more
New interim vice-chancellor for university

An established senior academic, Upton served for 10 years at Oxford Brookes University as well as spending time in senior roles at the University of Birmingham and the University of Wales.
